INSTALLATIONS INSTRUCTIONS FOR PACKINGS
| 1 | When the forming rings from a length of packing, wrap the packing spirally around a mandrel or rod with a diameter equal to the valve spindles or shafts. |
| 2 | Remove all old packing carefully. |
| 3 |  Clean all surface that will be in contact with the packing. Apply a suitable lubricant if possible. Inspect the PTFE universal packing, neck bush, spindle, or shaft for wear or damage, and repair if required. |
| 4 | First ring around the spindle or shaft place by gently opening it into an “S” shape. This helps prevent damage during installation. |
| 5 |  Insert both ends of the ring into the stuffing box simultaneously, then press the remaining portion into place. Firmly seat the ring at the bottom using a suitable tool such as a split sleeve. |
| 6 | Installed each ring one at a time, ensuring that joints are staggered at 90o. N.B: rings must be fitted individually and not as a set |
FOR PUMPS APPLICATIONS
| 1 | After installing all rings, position the gland follower and tighten the gland nuts evenly until the gland spigot is level. If the pump is to remain idle, keep the gland slightly loose.DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN. |
| 2 | Run the pump at operating speed for 10–15 minutes. If not detect leakage, stop the pump and slightly loose the gland. Repeat the process until slightly leakage is detected. Controlled leakage is essential for lubrication. Gradually tight the gland in small increments until a leakage rate of approximately one drop every few seconds is achieved. |
FOR VALVES
| 1 | When installing all rings, fit the gland follower and tighten the gland nuts until the spindle is firmly gripped. Then slightly loosen the nuts to allow smooth spindle movement. The system pressure can now be applied. |
| 2 | After a few hours of operation, recheck the gland adjustment. Little bit loosen may occur due to initial settling, and readjustment may be required. |
